Who I Am
Soccer Dog Design is the online portfolio of Atlanta-based graphic designer, web designer and trainer Jeana Nolen. I have been gainfully employed full-time in the print, graphic design, marketing/advertising, writing, and journalism worlds for more than 25 years, specializing in Internet for the last 15 years. I was the lead designer and design team coach for YP.com for more than 10 years and am now part of the CDC.gov team. You can check out my full resume at LinkedIn, if you want to know more. I have also owned and designed for Soccer Dog since 2000.
As for the other stuff? Yes, my dog Roper played soccer. Unfortunately, he wasn’t focused enough to go pro. He grabbed and carried the ball with his teeth, and I’m pretty sure that’s not legal on the field. As a result, one of us had to maintain a day job and he decided that, because he did not have opposable thumbs or the vocabulary, it should be me. He didn’t, however, have any problem posting photos of himself to his blog.
I lost him on May 16, 2011. My heart will never be the same – in both a wonderful and a sad way. He was my muse and he continues to live on in my everyday work. Good thing I now have the Jack Pack to keep me busy.
If you want to add one of these wonderful guys or gals to your family, please give a Jack Russell a second chance by visiting Georgia Jack Russell Rescue, Adoption & Sanctuary (my favorite “job”).
In addition to my daily on-hands projects, I have written and presented workshops on a slew of applications and principles for designers. I will never proclaim to be an expert (and no one ever should) without an ACE to back me up, but I can show you the hot key for most anything you want to do quickly. I’m not bragging; this is just a necessity when you work on deadlines.
